Matt Schultz

(He/Him)

Board Member

Matt is currently completing his master’s in counseling from OSU-Cascades. After completing his BA from Western Washington University, he began his career providing direct service in the youth shelter system along the I-5 corridor. He has since worked in case management services for OHP, as a Program Manager for a set of IDD group homes, and as a Certifier advocating for culturally competent foster family placements at CPS.

Matt is currently completing his internship as a school counselor at Obsidian Middle School in Redmond, OR. His past work experience informs his lens of systemic barriers. He is committed to advocating for all members of our community to feel a sense of belonging.

Outside of school and work, Matt loves to read, go hiking with his dog, spend time with loved ones, learn about the flora/fauna of Central Oregon, and build intentional community connections.

Staff

board Committee - board

Penny Pritchard

(She/Her)

Executive Director

As a Bend native, stepping into the Executive Director role for COHQA is a real homecoming for Penny. Over 20 years ago, she worked alongside healthcare providers in Bend who mentored and inspired her to pursue a health-related career to address health disparities.

As the first person in her family to earn a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Public Health, Penny has used her education to become a change agent. She has worked alongside community partners in cross-sectors, obtaining resources to develop, implement and evaluate community-based programs. In September 2023, Penny received the Oregon Primary Care Association Health Equity and Social Justice Award for “leading the cause to improve health equity for Oregonians and being grounded in the roots and mission of community health centers.” Penny looks forward to working with communities and providers to think innovatively to advance health equity across Oregon.

Penny enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, connecting with her partner and friends through mountain biking, snowboarding, camping or hiking, and playing with her miniature Dachshund, “Otto Von Long Dog” or “Otto” for short.

Kina Chadwick

(They/Them)

Gender Hive's Program Director

Kina’s dream is to create a continuum of care for trans, gender-diverse, and non-binary individuals from school-based health centers to gender affirming care and beyond!

Kina spent most of their childhood living in Europe as their father was in the Air Force; however, after retirement, their family permanently returned to Massachusetts. Kina’s passion for rural healthcare equity stems from their quaint New England hometown of 2,000 people and from their mother’s personal experience of needing to drive two hours to Boston, MA to receive various medical support. In addition to Kina’s professional experience in the Organizational Development field, Kina also brings their volunteer experience as a Bend-La Pine Schools Board of Director and a former Core Area Advisory Board Member for The City of Bend. Kina particularly finds fulfillment in working with youth. Kina finds hope and delight when empowering youth and elevating their fresh ideas!

Outside of work you’ll find Kina with their two children on some kind of biking or swimming adventure.
